Severe weather causes power outages, downed trees across the Coulee Region

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- Severe storms wreaked havoc across the Coulee Region on Saturday evening, causing widespread power outages and leaving a trail of fallen trees and downed power lines in their wake.

The Kwik Trip on Sand Lake Road in Onalaska was among the locations affected, with power knocked out from the storm.

In Onalaska, the intersection of Wilson Street and Oak Forest Drive was blocked by a fallen tree.

Nearby, stoplights were disabled near the Valley View Mall.

Meanwhile, in Independence, a tree collapsed onto a residence, reportedly sparking a minor electrical fire. Emergency responders treated one individual for smoke inhalation at the scene. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported, according to information received by News 8 Now.
