Minnesota National Guard’s 204th Medical Company Area Support Departs for Deployment Thursday Evening
(KNSI) — Over 50 Soldiers from the Minnesota National Guard’s 204th Medical Company Area Support (MCAS) are deploying to the Middle East today. The 204th MCAS delivers medical support, from basic first aid to advanced care, such as combat lifesavers with emergency medical technician level training, plus physicians and physician assistants. They conduct initial medical treatment such as first aid and lifesaving procedures provided to personnel immediately after an injury or illness and focus on either stabilizing them for evacuation or returning them to duty. The unit offers disease and nonbattle injury prevention, combat stress support to manage psychological impacts, and casualty collection and evacuation for further treatment. They support medical facilities utilizing more advanced services and include the evacuation of patients, initial resuscitation and emergency care, dental services, and laboratory and X-ray capabilities for diagnostic purposes.
