DAR members attend GHOTES genealogy conference
Fourteen members of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) representing ten different Chapters from across the United States attended the Genealogy and History of the Eastern Shore (GHOTES) four day conference in Parksley held June 26-29, 2024. Of the Northampton County Chapter, Anne Barnes, Esther Baker, Cara Burton, Kathy Lehman, and Susan Robinson attended.
New addition to Food Bank Facility in Tasley now in planning stages
The Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore is hoping to construct a new facility on the property in Tasley. Stephanie Cuffee from the Food Bank says the project ,which is in the early planning stages, would have a significant impact on the community. Cuffee says that the Food Bank is working with the Department of Housing and Community Development in Accomack County to secure a planning grant which will be crucial to building a new facility next to the original building.
