A Pa. man who shot at three FBI agents who were closing in on arresting him in 2020, sparking a shootout, will likely spend the rest of his life in prison. A federal judge sentenced Rafael Vega-Rodriguez, 42, of Reading, to 45 years in prison and a $4,500 fine. If he is still alive after serving that sentence, the judge ordered him to spend five years on supervised release.

(WJET/WFXP) – A Pennsylvania man will serve decades in prison after attempting to murder three Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) special agents. On Wednesday, July 24, United States District Court Judge Joseph F. Leeson sentenced 41-year-old Rafael Vega-Rodriguez to pay over $5,000 in fines, as well as serve 45 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for shooting at and attempting to kill three FBI special agents.

Reading police have arrested two city teens on robbery and murder charges in the July 10 shooting of a 19-year-old man in City Park. Investigators said witnesses told them that suspects chased the victim, Rafael Tinoco-Villagomez of Reading, after he found a stash of marijuana in the park during a scavenger hunt orchestrated via a social media app. The suspects were angry, they said, that Tinoco-Villagomez found the marijuana before they could, and one of them was heard yelling while in pursuit of the victim, “Just give it to me.”
