Social Media Goes Wild Over Penn Stater ‘Pommel Horse Guy’

In case you missed it, a Penn Stater has been king of the internet for the past 24 hours.

Steven Nedorocsik, an American Olympian competing in men’s gymnastics, was the final piece of the United States’ run at a bronze medal in the contest. The U.S. hadn’t finished on the podium in men’s gymnastics in 16 years, and though Nedorocsik only competed in the pommel horse, he made a name for himself instantly.

Twitter was quick to point out the similarities between Nedorocsik and comic book superhero Clark Kent.

Within hours, memes broke out comparing Nedoroscik to LeBron James and other famous athletes with his ability in one specific skill.

Some folks, celebrity book writer and YouTuber John Green included, learned about Nedoroscik’s personal life fairly quickly — including that he can solve a Rubik’s Cube in 10 seconds.

And, of course, everything came back to Penn State.
