The Sam Sessoms dominance was nice while it lasted, folks.

The Happy Valley Hoopers, a Penn State men’s basketball alumni team competing for $1,000,000 in The Basketball Tournament, has been eliminated from the competition. The group lost to Eberlein Drive 85-71 in the quarterfinals.

The Hoopers entered the tournament as one of the lower seeds in the Pittsburgh Regional but surprised many when they made it all the way to the quarterfinals . They knocked off a UConn alumni team, a team from DuBois, and the Pitt alumni team in Pitt’s basketball arena.

While they didn’t win any of the winner-take-all $1,000,000 prize money, the Hoopers performed significantly better in this year’s competition than in previous editions. With general manager, almost-Philadelphia Eagles tight end , and Penn State cult hero John Harrar at the helm, the Hoopers are nearly certain to take another swing at the tournament in a year.
