Penn State Football Quarterback Drew Allar Named To Davey O’Brien Award Watch List

Penn State football quarterback Drew Allar has been named to the watch list for the Davey O’Brien Award, which recognizes the nation’s best quarterback in college football, the Davey O’Brien Foundation announced Thursday. Allar was one of three dozen quarterbacks recognized.

Allar is entering his second season as Penn State’s starting quarterback and his third on the Nittany Lions’ roster. In 2023, Allar threw for 2,631 yards and 25 touchdowns with two interceptions across 13 games. An All-Big Ten honorable mention, he completed 233 of 389 pass attempts.

Allar was one of four Big Ten quarterbacks named to the watch list, including Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel, Ohio State’s Will Howard, and Washington’s Will Rogers. Penn State will also open its season against West Virginia and its quarterback, Garrett Greene, who also made the watch list.

This offseason, Allar was also named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award . Allar was also named to the Davey O’Brien Award’s watch list last year and was officially nominated for the award in November.
