Penn State Football Wide Receiver Peter Gonzalez Suffers Long-Term Injury

Penn State football’s freshman wide receiver Peter Gonzalez has suffered a long-term injury, James Franklin said at his Tuesday press conference. Franklin said Gonzalez “will be out for a little bit,” but didn’t describe the injury as season-ending.

Gonzalez hasn’t had much time to flex his strengths at Penn State thus far, as he wasn’t part of the initial wave of players from the recruiting class of 2023 to arrive in January. He committed to the Nittany Lions as a three-star .

This isn’t Gonzalez’s first major injury. In January 2022, the wide receiver suffered damage to an interior ligament in January 2022.

Gonzalez’s injury shouldn’t weigh too heavily on Penn State. Franklin said veteran wide receivers Trey Wallace and Liam Clifford are developing well, while the Nittany Lions have freshman talent in Tyseer Denmark and Josiah Brown waiting in the wings.
