Former Penn State football defensive tackle PJ Mustipher and linebacker Brandon Smith have been waived by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Mustipher spent five years with Penn State from 2018-22, totaling 144 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, and three sacks. He signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent after the 2023 NFL Draft and later signed to the New Orleans Saints’ active roster in December. He joined the Eagles in March.

Smith spent three years in Happy Valley after arriving as a five-star recruit in 2019. He was a starter for the team in his sophomore and junior seasons and produced 132 total tackles, four sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery across his Nittany Lions career.

Smith was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 2022 , appearing in 12 games and making eight tackles with Carolina. Smith was signed by the Eagles to a futures contract in January. He made two appearances with one tackle in the preseason.
