[Photo Story] The Completed East Halls Renovation Project

Penn State’s East Halls renovation project, which began in 2014, has been officially completed .

The final phase was completed at the end of July, renovating the remaining three traditional-styled residence halls: Hastings, Snyder, and Stone.

These buildings have reopened in time for the 2024-25 school year. With all of East Halls finally free from cranes and construction fences, let’s take a look at how the dorms are fairing without them.

What’s new? With the completed renovation of East Halls, freshmen can enjoy living with air conditioning, shared private bathrooms, community kitchens, laundry rooms, and newly designed meeting spaces in every dorm building.

Each building features numerous new lounging areas where students can gather to study or simply relax together.

You’ll often find students rounded up in the community lounges to enjoy watching sports, playing video games, and socializing outside of their dorms.

The quad’s beach volleyball court is still the ideal spot to enjoy a sunny day.

Life for freshmen in East Halls has notably improved since before the renovations. Sorry Pollock Halls people, your time will come one day.
