Have you ever wanted to wear the Nittany Lion costume? Have you dreamed of using your tail as a guitar and doing lots of one-handed push-ups? Your chance might just be around the corner.

Penn State Spirit, which manages Penn State’s cheerleaders, Lionettes, and the Nittany Lion, will hold three information sessions about trying out to become the Symbol of Our Best in the coming weeks.

Sessions will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, October 9, and October 16, at the Multi-Sport Facility and Ashenfelter Indoor Track.

Tryouts to become the Nittany Lion will happen in December, January, or February, with exact dates to be determined. Because the current Nittany Lion is set to graduate in December, the next student-mascot will be mentored by the current Nittany Lion.

Folks interested in becoming the Nittany Lion must have a 3.00 GPA, be a University Park student, and be able to do 50 one-arm push-ups, a two-minute skit, and 30 seconds of improv. There will also be a professional interview as part of the application.

For more information about tryouts, folks can reach out to Curtis White .
