East Halls Renovation Set For Completion Before Move-In

Penn State’s renovations at East Halls are nearing completion, the university announced Wednesday. The 10-year process will officially wrap up on Monday, August 19, when Hastings, Snyder, and Stone halls come online. Early arrival at Penn State will kick off the same day before classes start on Monday, August 26.

The work on East Halls was somewhat delayed. Renovations were expected to wrap up at the end of the 2022-23 school year instead of before the 2024-25 school year.

The renovated buildings have climate-controlled living spaces, improved social and residence life programming and meeting spaces, community kitchens, laundry rooms, and shared semi-private bathrooms in the core of each floor. East Halls will host 4,180 beds when renovations are completed.

Penn State isn’t done with construction on campus. Work on Pollock Halls will begin in May 2025 , which is expected to last five years. The university is also working on major renovations to Beaver Stadium , which will run until the 2027 college football season. After Pollock Halls work is completed, Penn State will turn its eyes to renovating West Halls.

“There’s no finish line, just laps as we get through (renovating) 60 residence halls on campus,” Rich O’Donald, Office of Physical Plant design and construction project manager, said in a release.
