Kaili Phillips Continues Softball Career with Steam
Chattanooga's Kaili Phillips climbed through the Mocs record books in just three seasons and will continue her softball career playing for the Chattanooga Steam. The Mocs infielder played every game in 2024 at the hot corner for UTC. She was a two-time All-Conference selection, named to the SoCon All-Tournament Team in 2024 and received the Pinnacle Award for the student-athlete on the championship team with the highest grade point average.

Nashville Heat Advisory, Residents Warned of Heat Index Values up to 112 Ahead of Holiday Weekend
Middle Tennessee is bracing for a wave of intense heat, as the National Weather Service in Nashville issues a heat advisory that takes effect from 1 p.m. this afternoon to 7 p.m. CDT tomorrow. The advisory alerts residents to the perilously high heat index values, which are expected to reach up to 112 during the hottest parts of the day. The heat index is a measure that combines air temperature and humidity to present an understanding of how hot it really feels outside.

Dalton State among top 10% most affordable colleges in the nation; number one in Georgia
Dalton State College is number one in Georgia and ranked 52 nationally among public four-year institutions for net price, according to a new report from the U.S. Department of Education’s Affordability and Transparency Center. The report lists the top 10% of public four-year institutions with the lowest net prices based on the 2021-22 academic year and lowest tuition and fees based on the 2022-23 academic year.

The study conducted by OxFamAmerica.org looked at three key areas of American work life: wages, worker protections, and rights to organize.
