    “TRANSFORMATIVE CURRENTS: ART AND ACTION IN THE PACIFIC OCEAN”

    Sculptor Liz Larner’s body of work unfolds the relationship between humans and objects through complex pieces of art. In her exhibition, the ocean and sky combine to display moving pieces of art. Her sculpture “Meerschaum Drifts” is made entirely of plastic waste collected during the course of three years and serves as a comment on plastic pollution in the ocean. Also on display will be her most recent sculpture, “Asteroids,” a ceramic piece that focuses on the potential consequences of natural forces.     NEWPORT DUNES MOVIES ON THE BEACH

    Throughout the month, Newport Dunes will host movie screenings on Friday and Saturday nights along the shore. Admission is free, and each screening starts at dusk.     “JEKYLL & HYDE”

    The musical based on the story by Robert Louis Stevenson follows the tale of two men and two women in a devastating battle between good and evil. While Dr. Henry Jekyll is driven to find a cure to complex medical problems, he chooses to test his experimental procedures on himself, turning into a troubled man known to the world as Mr. Hyde.     TCHAIKOVSKY SPECTACULAR

    Complete with fireworks and real cannons, this performance of Tchaikovsky’s catalog of music is sure to be an impressive display. The performance will include Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto performed by violinist Philippe Quint, a dance from “The Nutcracker,” the “1812” Overture, and more. The performance will be led by the Pacific Symphony’s music director Carl St.Clair and will feature a full fireworks show as the finale.     HYATT REGENCY SUMMER CONCERT SERIES

    Celebrating its 30th year of music under the stars, the Hyatt Regency Summer Concert Series boasts an impressive lineup. Grammy award-winning trumpeter and composer Chris Botti kicks things off with a performance Sept. 8. The legendary Four Tops perform hits from their catalog Sept.13. The evening of Sept. 20 features smooth jazz and R&B with musicians Najee and Brenda Russell.
