Coastal Credit Union Foundation and Habitat for Humanity Unveil Latest Home in Chapel Hill
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (July 1, 2024) – On June 29, the Coastal Credit Union Foundation and Habitat for Humanity of Orange County celebrated the nonprofit’s newest homebuyers in the Gattis Court community in Chapel Hill. Officials from the Town of Chapel Hill joined representatives from the foundation, Coastal Credit Union, Compass Center and Habitat for Humanity for the ceremony. The Gattis Court home and another in Durham were funded by $200,000 in grants from the foundation.

Lawsuit says ABSS ignored girls' warnings
A lawsuit has been filed against the Alamance-Burlington School System by a guardian for a middle school student who reportedly was repeatedly molested by a teacher. Jill Berman, an Orange County resident, filed the lawsuit last August in her role as guardian ad litem for the Southern Alamance Middle School student, who is identified in the lawsuit only as M.G.

Duke community to lose free access to GoTriangle bus rides through GoPass program, GoDurham remains free for year
Duke community members will lose access to unlimited free rides on GoTriangle buses as the University’s participation in the GoPass program pauses Monday. The change comes as GoTriangle, which administers bus routes covering Durham, Orange and Wake counties, ends its COVID-era fare-free ridership program. GoDurham buses, however, will remain free for at least one more year.
