Severe weather concerns delay start of school in Orange County

Lamar State College Orange announced a school delay for Wednesday (April 10) due to severe weather concerns.

Due to inclement weather, Lamar State College Orange is delaying the start of classes by two hours.

Campus will be closed until 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The news is similar for other parts of the region.

MORE COVERAGE — Heavy rain Wednesday morning north of Orange could still impact region.

Due to weather conditions, the West Orange-Cove Consolidated School District is using a two-hour delayed start on Wednesday.

Buses will run two hours later than usual; staff should report 30 minutes before student start times.

Student start times today:

NELC 9:30 a.m.

WOSE 9:25 a.m.

WOSM 10:15 a.m.

WOSHS 10:10 a.m.

The district stated that LSCO dual credit classes will be canceled Wednesday. The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Consolidated Independent School is also delaying the start of school Wednesday by two hours.

School start times are:

LCE, MVE LCI – 9:10 a.m.

LCJH, MMS – 10:20 a.m.

LCMHS – 10 a.m.

Bridge City Independent School District is also delaying the start of school.

New start times Wednesday are:

BCHS and BCMS — 9:15 a.m.

BCI — 10:35 a.m.

BCE — 9:55 a.m.

Similar plans are being made throughout the Orangefield Independent School District , with delayed starts.

Campus start times are:

OES — 9:30 a.m.

OJH — 10:20 a.m.

OHS — 10:30 a.m.

Due to the weather, the start time of Orangefield’s Area track meet has been pushed back to 2 p.m. Wednesday, OISD announced. According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, Louisiana, rainfall amounts are expected to range from 1 to 6 inches across the region, with locally higher amounts of up to 8 inches.

Most of the rain is expected today, with showers and storms tapering off Wednesday morning.

The greatest potential will be along/south of a Kountze to Opelousas line.
