One dead following fatal collision in Orangeburg County

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – One person has died following a fatal crash that took place July 15 shortly after 6 p.m. this evening.

According to Lance Corporal Brittany Glover of the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, the collision occurred approximately at 6:10 p.m. on I-26 westbound at the 148 mile marker, which is about eight miles north of Orangeburg, S.C.

The driver was in a 2013 freightliner tractor trailer and was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The report states that the tractor trailer veered off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

The driver was pronounced deceased from injuries on the scene.
