Portland Opera Sells 44,800 SQFT Hampton Opera Center Building for $11MM
The Portland Opera has sold its longtime headquarters, the Hampton Opera Center, to the Native American Rehabilitation Association of the Northwest (NARA) for nearly $11 million, or approximately $245 per square foot, according to industry reports.The 44,835-square-foot building located at 211 S.E. Caruthers St. served as the Opera’s home for over 20 years, housing its administrative offices, performance and rehearsal spaces and costume shop. The decision to sell the property was announced in January, with Opera management citing the need to alleviate debt accrued during the pandemic and the subsequent decline in ticket sales.
