City officials close Beatrice park restroom, following fireworks damage
BEATRICE – The City of Beatrice has closed a public park restroom, after it was damaged by vandals. A police sergeant responding to the park Friday morning found that a toilet had been blown up by fireworks, shattered into several pieces. A spent six-inch firework casing was found nearby.
Lincoln Paddle Company will 'meet you right at the water' to provide a fun lake day

Overnight Crash in Central Lincoln Under Investigation
LINCOLN–(KFOR July 8)–Some new information was released by Lincoln Police regarding a crash early Monday morning, not far from the Lincoln Children’s Zoo. LPD says officers were called to the crash scene near Capitol Parkway and “A” Street around 1am Monday, where a 20-year-old man was seriously injured after his vehicle hit a tree. The man was found holding his stomach with what officers believed to be a serious injury. He was taken to a Lincoln hospital, where he underwent surgery and is in stable condition.
Top athlete in 2026 to visit Nebraska later this month
One of the top athletes in the class of 2026 will visit the Nebraska Cornhuskers later this month. Brandon Arrington is a cornerback/wide receiver from Mount Miguel High School out of Spring Valley, California. Arrington will visit Oklahoma on July 26th, Nebraska on July 27th, and Alabama on July 28th. During his Sophomore season, he made 14 receptions for 310 yards and four touchdowns. He also recorded 25 tackles on the year. Arrington is also an accomplished sprinter, recording times of 10.43 in the 100-meter dash and 20.76 in the 200-meter dash. According to three of the four primary recruiting services, the recruit is currently ranked as the No. 1 athlete in the class of 2026.
