Porchfest, summer reading and more: Oregon City's August calendar

SUMMER CONCERTS:

Oregon City’s Concerts in the Park series kicks off in July and continues in August. More information, including maps and park rules, can be found at www.orcity.org/concertsinthepark.

BUSINESS ALLIANCE FORUM:

Come hear from representatives from the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Abernethy Center Ballroom as they share their vision and dreams for the future of their proposed tumwata village overlooking the Willamette River and Falls. This discussion is hosted by the Oregon City Business Alliance. As always, a question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. The luncheon cost is $27 for OCBA members, $32 for non-members, $32 for special plated meals for members or non-members and $37 for all attendees after Wednesday, Aug. 21, which includes payment at the door.

PORCHFEST:

The Oregon City Public Library will be one of the participating locations in this year’s Porchfest event Aug. 9-10. The performances:

Nightlife: 5:30 — 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9

Reel 2 Real: 7-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9

Marigold: 5:30 — 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10

When We Meet: 7-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10

END OF SUMMER READING PARTY:

From 2-5 p.m. Aug. 31, join the End of Summer Reading Party in Library Park. Celebrate finishing summer reading with some fun for all. Come see Gaddy the Magician and enjoy free ice cream from Friends of the Library. There will also be raffles, Beanstack help, bubbles and more.

MOVIES IN THE PARK: The August lineup of movies is as follows. Movies begin at dusk.

Aug. 9: “Lego Movie” at Wesley Lynn Park

Aug. 16: “The Super Mario Bros.” at Hillendral Park

Aug. 23: “Shrek 2” at End of the Oregon Trail

OREGON CITY FARMERS MARKET:

The Oregon City Farmers Market runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday through Oct. 26. The market has moved to Clackamas Community College. You will find it at the Green Lots #1 located on Clairmont Drive between S Beavercreek Road and N Douglas Loop. (right next to the Horticulture Department).
