OREGON, Ill. (WTVO) — A new 50-foot-long mural is going up on the side of the Village Bakery, at 101 North 3rd Street.

The mural, designed by artist Nora Reuter, shows a sunset with local wildflowers and scenery.

Members of the Village of Progress, which serves adults with developmental disabilities, helped paint the mural on Thursday.

“I think it’s important to highlight arts and culture in every community, especially our smaller communities, is kind of where I like to highlight,” Reuter said. “I’ve done a lot of work in Chicago, but it’s definitely my bread and butter to do a lot in the smaller communities. I’m from Dixon, and I love (that) people really care about their smaller communities and the small towns.”

Reuter said the mural has been over a year in the making.
