Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti addresses Big Ten "map" commercial

Some things are more important than others, especially when it comes to the passionate fanbases in college football. One thing that has been on the minds of many Big Ten fans is the status of the Big Ten "map commercial" that has been around since the last expansion when Rutgers and Maryland joined the conference in 2014.

Now that four new teams are a part of the conference with the additions of Oregon, UCLA, USC, and Washington, the old commercial with 14 teams simply won't fly, right? We've all been waiting for an updated commercial to drop, and many thought it might happen during Big Ten media days . So far though, that hasn't happened. In fact, the old spot has continued to run this week.

Leave it to Big Ten talent Dave Revsine to get to the bottom of it though. He sat down with Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti to ask the hard-hitting question everyone wants to know. "What happens to the Big Ten map commercial?" Revsine asked Petitti.

"OK, Well I learned very quickly in this job that there's a lot of passion around the Big Ten map commercial. So, I would say to fans we understand and we get that, so more to come ... I've learned a lot about the map spot over the last few years, over the last 12 months ... this one gets a lot of love."

So, if we're reading between the lines, it sounds like something is in the works, right? I mean, forget competitive balance, travel concerns of a geographically stretched conference, and even where things stand with the Michigan sign-stealing allegations. The map commercial has to be addressed ... like -- yesterday. Petitti's job might just depend on it.

More to come ... we think.
