Before beginning the Roscoe Village Board meeting on August 20, 2024, village trustees recognized Sgt. Aaron Weber and his wife Kelly for their leadership in once again making this year’s National Night Out a big success. Village President Carol Gustafson said much of the credit is due to the hard work and dedication of Kelly and Sgt. Stephenson County Firefighter passes away in motor vehicle accident
ROCK CITY, Ill. (WTVO) — Rock City Fire announced the passing of firefighter Cody Penticoff on Saturday evening. Penticoff died in a motor vehicle accident on the evening of August 23rd. Rock City Fire said arrangements are forthcoming.

Reported shooting in Machesney Park under investigation
MACHESNEY PARK, Ill. (WIFR) - Deputies say there is no threat to the public following the report of a shooting Saturday in Machesney Park. Around 2 p.m. Aug. 24, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office shared on X that it was called to investigate a shooting earlier in the day in the 1000 block of Minns Drive. No injuries were reported, according to authorities.

Varsity Football falls to Darlington 28 – 0
The Platteville Hillmen came up short on the day, falling to the Darlington Redbirds 28-0. The first half featured a back and forth battle with both offenses moving the ball, but the two defenses were the highlight of the first half, stepping up big on fourth downs and causing multiple turnovers. The Hillmen defense forced three fumbles on the afternoon and the offense found itself in the red zone on multiple occasions, but a tough Darlington front line prevented Platteville from finding the end zone.
