‘No one’s happy’: Council adopts budget with tax hike
Washington Township council members say the recent vote to adopt their municipal budget was not an easy one. “No one’s happy with any type of increase, but we need to be transparent to you citizens of Washington Township, to make sure you are aware of what we’re doing for the best interests of the town,” said Councilman Richard Bennett of the new budget’s tax rate hike at a meeting on July 24.
Early, in-person voting begins in Flint
Early voting hours in the City of Flint began on Saturday, July 27, 2024, and will continue for nine consecutive days through Sunday, August 4. Farmington Hills Man Charged in Traffic Incident Resulting in Motorcyclist's Death in Oxford Township
A 54-year-old Farmington Hills resident, Adnan Ali Eltobji, has been charged with a moving violation leading to death after a traffic incident in May resulted in the loss of a motorcyclist's life. According to ClickOnDetroit, the crash occurred on May 1 at around 4:45 p.m. in Oxford Township, where Eltobji did not fully stop at a flashing red signal before turning onto Lapeer Road—in front of a motorcycle—causing the motorcyclist's fatal ejection.
