Royal Oak Roast's loaded breakfast burrito
👋 Joe here. I eat so many breakfast sandwiches and burritos that they're basically my sixth food group.Dig in: My latest breakfast burrito adventure was at Royal Oak Roast, a coffee shop and eatery on Woodward Avenue near the Detroit Zoo.The vibe: Never have I written about a more "burbs" establishment. It's on the ground floor of The Griffin, the newish luxury apartment building at 10 Mile Road. The surrounding traffic on Woodward, I-75 and I-696 was audible as I sat at an outdoor table. What I ordered: The breakfast burrito ($12) — stuffed with eggs, hash browns, bacon, spinach, onions and cheese — and a small cold brew ($4.50).The breakfast menu includes huevos rancheros, smoked salmon bagels and more.💭 My thought bubble: When it comes to Royal Oak breakfast burritos, Atomic Coffee's OG is my standard-bearer for its consistency, price and taste. (It's also vegetarian.)This is a worthy rival. The ingredients were fresh and the burrito was well-prepared. I'll be back.Stop by: 25070 Woodward Ave., Royal Oak.Open daily, 7am-7pm.
