Lengthy prison sentence handed to Pontiac murderer
A Pontiac man will spend decades behind bars — and perhaps the rest of his life — for murdering a 20-year-old whose body was recovered from a Pontiac lake six years ago. At a hearing Monday in Oakland County Circuit Court, Judge Daniel O’Brien handed down a sentence of 36.5 to 80 years in prison for Angel Jose Alvarez for the slaying of 20-year-old Emilio Valdez. Valdez’s body was found in Osmun Lake in Pontiac on June 7, 2018, but it was four years before Alvarez was charged.
