A popular Winter Garden shopping center soon may get a significant addition.<\p> Documents filed with the city reveal a developer's plans to add an 8,000-square-foot retail or restaurant building to the 131,000-square-foot Winter Garden Regional Shopping Center. <\p>
Controversial Brevard apartment project in flux
A multifamily project in Titusville could become affordable apartments under Florida's Live Local Act as the developer faces pushback from neighboring residents.<\p> Bristol Windover Way, the name for a project put forth by Nashville-based Bristol Development, proposes 304 apartments divided among six four-story buildings on 26 acres at the intersection of I-95 and State Road 50. Bristol Development executives did not return multiple requests for comment.<\p>

New Club Wyndham experience for SeaWorld fans
Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek rolled out a suite concept designed to draw niche enthusiasts attracted to Penguin Trek, the family coaster opening July 7 at SeaWorld Orlando. <\p> Guests can book a stay in the Club Wyndham SeaWorld Suite, with décor inspired by the park’s new Antarctica realm, especially Penguin Trek. The one-bedroom suite accommodates up to four people and includes a fully equipped kitchen. A similar two-bedroom suite is already fully booked through September 8. <\p>

Plans for a new location for Oregon-based coffee chain Dutch Bros (NYSE: BROS) have surfaced in fast-growing Horizon West.<\p> Orange County records show a request for preliminary review of a proposed Dutch Bros coffee shop on Hamlin Groves Trail, in Boyd Development Corp.'s Hamlin Town Center. <\p>

Nonprofit buys Osceola land for new school, more
UCP of Central Florida has plans for a new campus in Osceola County.<\p> The nonprofit, which provides education and therapy for students with and without disabilities, has plans for a $14 million, 37,000-square-foot campus in downtown Kissimmee near Vine and Oak streets. The site would offer a charter school and therapies such as physical, occupational and speech.<\p>

Local credit union to open new format branch
Space Coast Credit Union is growing its presence in Brevard County with a new branch format.<\p> The credit union opened in June a 920-square-foot branch at 4745 N. Wickham Road in Melbourne. The branch is the first to focus on a drive-thru format and brings the credit union to 22 total in the county and 66 across its footprint. <\p>

The president and CEO of the Black Business Investment Fund has died. <\p> Inez Long, who was a leader for 30 years for the loan fund and resource group for Black- and other minority-owned businesses, died suddenly on June 29, the organization announced. <\p>

Orlando placed seventh out of eight Florida cities — and in the bottom-half of 148 cities that were scored, overall — in a recently released WalletHub report ranking the best-run cities in the country.<\p> The June 18 report looked at a variety of metrics to put together its rankings, taking into account quality of city services and how city budget dollars are being utilized on a per capita basis.<\p>

A new report ranking the top job markets in the nation is not especially favorable to the City Beautiful — or the Sunshine State, overall, for that matter.<\p> The study by consumer finance hub SmartAsset examined 343 U.S. cities with populations of 100,000 or greater and ranked Orlando 144th among the pack. <\p>

The Orlando VA Healthcare System has debuted a new research facility as part of larger growth on its Lake Nona campus. <\p> The system unveiled its 22,500-square-foot Research and Academic Center on the second floor of the SimVet Center on June 28. The facility is located across the street from its 134-bed hospital and will provide a new space for veterans to participate in outpatient clinical trials. <\p>
