After years of buzz and development, it appears that the Packing District Food Hall is finally approaching its debut—a recent plan review for “Southern Box Food Hall” at 2105 N Orange Blossom Trail suggests that the final steps of the permitting process are well underway.

“The old Great Southern Box Co. building on the southeast corner of Princeton Street and North Orange Blossom Trail is being preserved and repurposed into a 22,400-square-foot food hall featuring an elevated plaza with outdoor green space (read: shade),” a recent Orlando Weekly report states.

“Hospitality HQ, run by award-winning chef Akhtar Nawab, whose restaurant Alta Calidad in Brooklyn earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2018, has been selected to operate the hall with vendors focusing on ‘immigrant cuisine.’”

The noted Hospitality HQ is a NYC-based “creative consulting and management group offering bespoke solutions for culinary-driven concepts across the United States. Helmed by award-winning chef, restaurateur, TV personality and cookbook author Akhtar Nawab, HHQ’s dynamic and comprehensive team prioritizes high-quality service at all levels, producing systems and marketing for food and beverage concepts which consistently optimize the guest experience.”

No details have been announced regarding specific brands, offerings, or opening dates.
