I-4 back open after wreck in Volusia County

    By Richard Tribou, Orlando Sentinel,

    2024-08-20

A pair of wrecks on Interstate 4 in Volusia County shut down all eastbound lanes for part of Tuesday afternoon and limited traffic westbound.

An alert from FL511 at 2:30 p.m. said the crash at mile marker 105 has all lanes blocked eastbound with motorists asked to find an alternate route. This is a couple miles beyond the Seminole-Volusia line on the stretch that runs alongside Lake Monroe. Eastbound traffic was backed up to mile marker 102.

Only the right lane was blocked as of 3:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, a second wreck in the westbound lanes that involved semi trailers with oversize loads shut down multiple lanes as well.

Traffic westbound is backed up to the DeBary exit at mile marker 108 as of 3:45 p.m. with only one lane of traffic flowing through.

Images had showed multiple emergency vehicles responding on both sides of the interstate.
