Sequoia Park Zoo has announced the passing of beloved Red Panda Sumo
Eureka, Calif. — The 15 year old Red Panda named Sumo has passed away, far exceeding the typical lifespan of 8-10 years. Sumo was born at the Denver Zoo in 2009 and made his way to the Sequoia Park Zoo with his brother Shifu in 2010. While Sumo's passing wasn't unexpected due to his age, it was heartbreaking for staff, volunteers and guests.
