(ABC 6 News) — Fly High Olivia, a banquet honoring the life of 18-year-old Olivia Flores, was held on Saturday, July 27 at the Owatonna Eagles. Olivia Flores died in a crash involving Minnesota State Trooper Shane Roper in May. Roper now faces multiple charges related to the crash.
Pocahontas Man Dies in Car vs Motorcycle Accident
A Pocahontas man died this weekend when a car collided with a motorcycle in Kossuth County. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened at approximately 1pm today (Sun) just east of Algona. A 17-year-old from Ackley was driving a compact car southbound on 160th Avenue. The teenager failed to yield to a stop sign and was struck by a motorcycle headed westbound on Highway 18. The motorcycle was driven by 42-year-old Adam Allen of Pocahontas.

Summer weather continues with hot, humid, unsettled week in Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS — Monday will kick off a hot and humid week, with an unsettled weather pattern bringing multiple chances for storms in the coming days.Lingering showers will pester areas south of the Twin Cities through the morning hours, but the metro should be mostly clear. The rest of the day should be dry.Highs will be in the upper 80s Monday and stay there throughout the week. We may even hit 90 once or twice.Most days this week will bring a chance of isolated storms, with Wednesday looking like the most active day.Wildfire smoke will be a factor, too, causing hazy skies at times.
Minnesota sees rise in reports of kids left alone at day care
Stories of kids left unsupervised by Minnesota child-care providers appear nearly every week in state investigative reports. Child-care workers in Rochester and Montrose left 2-year-olds unsupervised on playgrounds, according to documents posted in mid-July. The week before, a memo described a 3-year-old slipping through a St. Paul center's unlocked gate and walking onto University Avenue. Reports published earlier this month chronicled how a toddler and preschooler were briefly left alone in Brooklyn Park and Chaska classrooms.
