Trojans encouraged to show their spirit on Aug. 30 for College Colors Day
Troy University students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends are encouraged to show their Trojan spirit on Friday, Aug. 30 by donning their TROY colors. On Wednesday, Gov. Kay Ivey presented a proclamation to the Higher Education Partnership of Alabama, recognizing Aug. 30 as College Colors Day in the state of Alabama.
Drought conditions worsen as monthly rainfall deficit grows
Rainfall has been hard to come by in some parts of the Tennessee Valley this month. This has put some communities at a significant monthly rainfall deficit. The latest drought update as of August 22, shows that parts of Northwest Alabama including the Shoals area are experiencing severe drought. At the same time, other parts of the region continue to experience dry to moderate drought levels.

Cultural festival celebrates Alabama blues women on Aug. 31
A pre-Labor Day cultural festival in Pickens County celebrating women in blues music is set for Saturday, Aug. 31 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will feature music from Debbie Bond, Carroline Shines, and Taylor Britton. Perry County Ambulance Service expanding to Uniontown
The Perry County Ambulance Service is set to expand to Uniontown in September. A woman has been charged with three counts of arson after three Montgomery properties caught fire Wednesday, authorities say.
