Stream advisory issued for Hill Creek, 142 Creek, Elm Creek, Marais des Cygnes River, NW Melvern Lake
TOPEKA, Kan. – Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued a stream advisory for Hill Creek, 142-Mile Creek, Elm Creek, Marais des Cygnes River, and the northwestern confluence of Melvern Lake. The streams are located southeast of Allen, in Lyon and Osage counties, and the stream advisory is a result of a raw sewage release from the city of Allen’s wastewater treatment plant due to extreme flooding. The city of Allen is working to address the source problem.

Last week some volunteers from the Willing Worker’s 4-H Club got together to make pies for the Lions Club. We made 30 pies this year for the upcoming carnival, July 10-13, 2024, at Osage City. But don’t forget that isn’t the only event in July. This is a friendly reminder to come to the 4-H fair the week after the carnival.
Osage Traffic stop leads to drug arrest
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Burlingame man is behind bars after a traffic stop led to the discovery of illegal drugs. The Osage County Sheriff’s Office says on Saturday at 3:48 pm, their K-9 unit conducted a traffic stop at Park Avenue and South Topeka Avenue in Burlingame for a traffic violation. During the stop, illegal narcotics were found.
Burlingame man arrested following traffic stop in Osage County Saturday afternoon
A Burlingame man is in custody on suspicion of drug-related activity and traffic violations following an arrest in Osage County Saturday. According to Osage County Sheriff Chris Wells, an Osage County Sheriff’s K-9 unit initiated a traffic stop at Park Avenue and South Topeka in Burlingame just before 3:50 pm for an alleged traffic violation. During the stop, illegal narcotics were allegedly found in a vehicle driven by 41-year-old Brandon T. Sage of Burlingame.
