Minneapolis is charting a new course in strengthening its police force and civil rights accountability, following the recent approval of a substantial collective bargaining agreement with the Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis (POFM). In a decisive 8-4 vote by the City Council, Minneapolis police officers are set to receive a 21.7 percent pay rise over three years, positioning them among the highest paid in Minnesota come 2025.
