FLORIDA (LOOTPRESS) – A frustrated father throws his 10-year-old daughter from his vehicle on a crowded road, instructing her to walk to her grandparents.

The Florida father, 30-year-old Hector Luis Serrano, was arrested after allegedly kicking his 10-year-old daughter out of his car on a busy tourist road near Disney World and ordering her to walk miles to her grandparents’ house.

According to Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez, residents called 911 shortly after midnight Tuesday after witnessing Serrano push the young girl out of his vehicle on U.S. 192 near Scott Boulevard – a heavily trafficked area with a high risk of pedestrian accidents.

“It’s a very heavily traveled roadway. Very touristy. Pretty dangerous. We get a lot of pedestrians hit by vehicles in that area,” Lopez stated.

Concerned citizens immediately went to the distressed child’s aid. The 10-year-old girl was understandably “distraught,” “crying,” and “confused” at being abandoned on the dark road late at night.

“This type of behavior is unacceptable. I don’t know if this guy ever saw the Little Red Riding Hood story. There’s wolves out there and there’s predators out there that prey on children,” the sheriff said.

Serrano was cooperative when arrested and allegedly claimed he was returning the girl to her grandparents, who have custody, because they had threatened to call the police if he didn’t. However, the grandparents’ home was about a 20-minute walk away, which Lopez described as “dangerous” for a child that age.

Serrano was charged with child neglect without great bodily harm, and the girl was returned safely to her grandparents.
