Kris Mitchell Focused on Expanding Game, Creating Explosive Plays
It’s been Notre Dame’s goal since the 2023 season completed and Marcus Freeman made a statement by bringing in Mike Denbrock to run the Irish offense. In 2023, Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman completed 25-of-57 passes that traveled more than 20 yards downfield. 43.86 percent is solid, but it’s not where Notre Dame needs it to be to compete for a national title.
Road Trip: Denbrock and Golden Work Hand-in-Hand As Fall Camp Closes
While probably not as dramatic as it was in “The Town”, that’s how I envisioned Mike Denbrock and Al Golden’s drive to Marcus Freeman’s house looking. As fall camp wrapped up Saturday, Notre Dame’s offensive and defensive coordinators took a step back from the daily grind of camp to truly evaluate where the team is — this time in a different setting.

Izzy Engle barely has her feet wet with the Notre Dame women’s soccer program. But the freshman midfielder/forward from Edina, Minnesota already is making a big impact. In fact, it’s one most Notre Dame freshmen only can dream of. During the Irish’s 6-0 road win over Samford, Engle...

2024 Will Decide the Future for Marcus Freeman at Notre Dame
Marcus Freeman was hired by former head coach Brian Kelly as the defensive coordinator, January 2021. At the end of the 2021 college football season, Brian Kelly left for LSU, failing to win Notre Dame a National Championship during his time there. Brian Kelly reached the BCS National Championship in 2013 but finished as runner-up, being destroyed by a Nick Saban led Alabama team 42-14. Brian Kelly felt that it was harder to recruit at Notre Dame due to academic requirements and recruiting regional footprint and bolted for the southeastern conference and a recruiting hotbed in the state of Louisiana to finally try and win an elusive national championship to solidify Brian Kelly’s legacy as an elite college football head coach.
