    OSHKOSH - EAA AirVenture flies into Oshkosh July 22-28, while legendary rock 'n’ roll figures come together for the Voice of Rock Radio concert at Waterfest.

    Families also can enjoy DeerFest 2024, a barbecue competition and shop the Stellar Summer Music & Vintage Festival.

    AirVenture 2024 flies into Oshkosh July 22-28

    EAA AirVenture 2024 lands in Oshkosh July 22 to 28. From the novice to the enthusiast, there’s something for everyone.

    From education to innovation, the week is filled with activities revolving around aviation, including daily air shows, aerobatics, forums and hands-on workshops. The two night airshows are scheduled for July 24 and 27.

    The EAA convention grounds are at 3000 Poberezny Road. Admission prices vary, although youth 18 and younger are admitted free.

    AirVenture:Vintage in Review series returns for AirVenture 2024

    Voices of Rock Radio at Waterfest features legendary performers

    Voices of Rock Radio will play Waterfest July 18. Gates open at 5:45 p.m. at Leach Amphitheater, 303 Ceape Ave.

    This concert features legendary rock ‘n' roll voices such as John Elefante, former singer with Kansas; Randall Hall, formerly of Lynyrd Skynyrd; Fran Cosmo, former vocalist with Boston; and Charlie Huhn, former singer with Foghat and Humble Pie, to name just a few.

    Also playing are Copper Box, and Kate Voss and The Hot Sauce.

    Tickets are $15 before 7 p.m. and $20 after 7 p.m. Standing-room-only VIP tickets are $40.

    DeerFest highlights hunting, fishing and more at Sunnyview

    DeerFest 2024 - The Outdoor Experience will run July 19 to 21 at the Sunnyview Expo Center, 500 E. County Y. Hours are 2 to 7 p.m. July 19, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 20 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 21.

    This outdoor trade show offers fun experiences for outdoor enthusiasts and their families. The event’s focus is on hunting and fishing in the outdoors, but there is much more to enjoy.

    This year, DeerFest has added a large Kids' Zone that includes blow-up archery, bumper boats, a fishing pond, shed hunt and more.

    There also will be seminars, vendors, a turkey-calling contest, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation calling contest, live chainsaw wood carving, raised at full draw archery competition and wiener dog races.

    Benefit ride, barbecue competition set July 20 at Brighton Acres

    BBCubed and Brighton Ride to Cure Diabetes will be held July 20 at Brighton Acres, 4057 Fisk Ave.

    Three options are available for the bike ride. Registration for the 70-mile or 35-mile ride is $50, and starts at 8 a.m. The family 5-mile ride is $20 for an adult, $15 for a child and starts at 11 a.m.

    The meal options are $25 for adults and $15 for kids. Meals include pork sliders, a side, mini donuts and drinks.

    Attendees can taste and vote for their favorite during the Kansas City Barbeque Society barbecue competition.

    Live music will be provided by Taylor Jay, and there will be bounce houses for kids, demonstrations from local barbecue cooks and meat raffles.

    Festival features food, vintage items and music

    The Stellar Summer Music & Vintage Festival is set to take place July 20 at Leach Amphitheater.

    Shop more than 70 vendors, enjoy food from local food trucks, and dance to the music of Sulestial, Smoke Free Home, Social Cig, Shoobie and more.

    Some of the items available to purchase include vintage fashions, nostalgic toys, vinyl records, home décor and more from the 1970s through Y2K eras, along with art and hand-crafted goods.

    Gates open at 11 a.m. with music from noon to 6 p.m. Tickets start at $25 in advance at facebook.com/stellarsummerfest. Day-of tickets will be $35. Ages 12 and younger are admitted free.
