OSHKOSH, Wis. -- The EAA AirVenture announced Saturday its "WomenVenture" program will give w omen interested in learning about potential careers in military aviation more opportunities to hear from subject matter experts.

Throughout the festival, the EAA said attendees will have the chance to speak to a panel of female aviators, watch presentations about women in aviation, and attend forums about career opportunities in aviation support. Captain Meredith Porter, a battalion training officer for the Wisconsin Army National Guard's First Battalion, 147th Aviation Regiment, will be a part of the WomenVenture panel on July 24, at 6 p.m.

The EAA said in the past, Porter's panel discussed different paths into Army aviation and the lens of the female experience in a variety of Army aviation missions. This year’s theme for WomenVenture is “vertical lift,” which fits right in with Porter's own UH-60 Black Hawk unit.

The EAA said WomenVenture will educate attendees, especially young girls and women, about the vast opportunities that exist in aviation.
