It is another stormy start to the day for some of us. Showers and storms will mainly be found across the southern half of the area through mid morning. Most of this activity will behave and the main threat that will come from them is localized flooding due to steady, heavy rainfall.

Electricity is being restored following early morning storm
A strong storm moved across Evergy’s service area this morning, starting in Manhattan about 6 a.m. and moving east along I-70, entering Missouri about 8 a.m. The storm brought heavy rains and strong winds. The National Weather Service is reporting winds as high as 70 miles per hour. The storm impacted about 29,000 customers in total, with 21,000 outages at its peak. As of noon, Evergy had restored more than half the outages with about 9,000 customers still without power.
Kansas quarterback Cole Ballard's continued growth gets praise from coach Lance Leipold
LAWRENCE — As quarterback Cole Ballard approaches his redshirt freshman season with Kansas football, there are areas in which his head coach thinks he can improve. Speaking last week at Big 12 Conference media days in Las Vegas, Lance Leipold indicated Ballard needs to continue to develop an understanding on when and when not to take chances. Leipold pointed back to the Kansas State game last year, when injuries forced Ballard into a starting role. Although Ballard nearly helped KU to a win, Leipold mentioned there were times Ballard tried to make plays that weren’t there.

Boil advisory issued in Platte County community after water main break
WALDRON, Mo. (KCTV) - A broken water main is causing some extra work for people living in one area of Platte County. Anyone living in Waldron, Mo., who gets water from Consolidated Public Water Supply District One is advised to boil water used for cooking or drinking for three minutes. The water district also suggests using bottled water to brush teeth.
