After a tough stretch for the Osseo Legion Post 172 baseball team, they got themselves back on track with consecutive shutout wins. On June 25 they took down Andover 11-0 on the road. A day later, they took down Armstrong 9-0 at home.

The run production is a sign that the Osseo bats are starting to come around. Their previous game-high run total was five during a 5-4 win over Monticello in the first game of the season. Osseo had combined to score seven runs over their previous four games before plating 11 against Andover.

After a scoreless first and second inning, Osseo scored two in the third, four in the fourth and five more over the final two innings. After holding Andover to zero runs on five hits through six innings, Osseo won via the 10-run rule.

Gavyn Krzoska went 2-for-4 with a run and three RBI. Brenden Kranz had a team-high three hits with a run and an RBI. Logan Partanen was 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and an RBI. Cooper Skov, Gavin Phenow, Eli Larson, Quincy Standal and Joe Capra also drove in a run each. Partanen (W) struck out 11 in 5.2 innings. Krzoska got the final out.

The bats stayed hot as Osseo scored nine runs on 11 hits against Armstrong. Brayden Haag and Phenow tied for a game-high three hits, including a double for each. Phenow drove in two of the team’s four RBIs. Krzoska, Partanen and Haag each scored twice.

Jack McHugo (W) struck out seven in five innings. Capra struck out one in two innings out of the bullpen.

It’s a welcome sight for Osseo Post 172. If they can continue to swing the bats like they did last week, it will pair well with the team’s strong pitching staff.

Those wins improved Osseo’s record to 5-3 entering the final stretch of the regular season. They had a road game on Wednesday against Lakeville South. On Thursday they host Edina at 6 p.m. and hit the road again on Friday against Minneapolis Southwest.

They get a short break before an eight-game stretch over seven days starting on Wednesday, July 10 through Tuesday, July 16.
