Multiple reports of shots fired outside apartments in SE Rochester Monday night
ROCHESTER, Minn. - According to the Rochester Police Department, on Monday, July 29, shortly after 9 p.m., dispatch received multiple reports of shots fired outside apartments along the 1900 block of 8 ½ St. SE. Officers did not locate anyone who had been struck but found several shell casings.
Electric vehicle charging stations available outside some Olmsted County government buildings
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Olmsted County says electric vehicle (EV) charging stations are now available outside county government buildings on Campus Drive SE. Each location has one ChargePoint EV charging station that employees and visitors can use. Each station can charge up to two vehicles at a time. They are located outside County Government Campus buildings 2100, 2117, 2118, and 2122. Red circles on the map below indicate where EV charging stations will be located.
Charges Tossed in Case Of Rochester Teen Involving 800+ LSD Doses
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - An Olmsted County judge has thrown out the charges against a Rochester teenager stemming from a large drug bust in Rochester last summer. 19-year-old Ezequiel Garcia-Hall was arrested as a result of an investigation that was launched after Rochester police received tips from citizens about activity that suggested drug deals were taking place a parking lot. The criminal complaint indicates investigators responded by setting up a surveillance operation during which they described witnessing "multiple and consistent hand-to-hand transactions" involving the driver of the car and multiple other vehicles that visited the parking lot.
Affinty Plus Foundation donates $30,000 to Three Rivers Community Action
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Three Rivers Community Action (TRCA) is getting a $30,000 grant to support its “Achieve Homeownership” program. The money is coming from the Affinity Plus Foundation, the charitable arm of Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union. The foundation says the money will specifically fund staffing support for an initiative connecting aspiring BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) homeowners from underserved communities with mentors who share similar life experiences. These mentors guide participants through the often complex process of financing and owning a home, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their dream of homeownership.

Rochester, Minn., plans extensive geothermal network
The city of Rochester, Minn., home of the famed Mayo Clinic, is going big on geothermal networks. The city is constructing Thermal Energy Networks (TENs) that consist of ambient pipe loops connecting multiple buildings and delivering thermal heating and cooling energy via water-source heat pumps. A groundwater-based system with a heat exchanger installed into the aquifer feeds into a closed loop that connects to buildings’ HVAC systems.
