Oswego County Legislative Office Building Closing Early
OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Legislative Office Building, 46 E. Bridge St., Oswego will close at 2 p.m. today, June 18 and tomorrow, June 19. The early closures are due to concern for the health and safety of employees and the public resulting from the failure of the building’s air conditioning system and extreme high heat conditions developing inside the building during the current heat wave.

How To Beat The Heat This Week!
OSWEGO – According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), extreme heat is the leading cause of weather-related deaths in the United States. The National Weather Service – Buffalo has issued a HEAT ADVISORY for our area from Tuesday, June 18th through Thursday, June 20th. High temperatures and humidity are expected, causing a heat index to be over 100° Fahrenheit at times.
Oswego Lighthouse Boat Tours Kick off in June
OSWEGO – The H. Lee White Maritime Museum at Oswego offers boat tours to the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse starting this Friday and Saturday, June 21 and 22 and then the following dates June 28 and 29. They run from 12-4pm. Starting in July and through August tours are also offered on Thursdays, from 3-5pm. Tours are weather dependent but check with us as Oswego weather can be fair when other areas are not.

OSWEGO – Sandra Anne (Sweeney) White, 81, of Oswego passed away after a brief stay at Seneca Hill Manor on June 15, 2024. She was affectionally known as Sandy to her large family members, along with close friends and neighbors. She was born in the Oswego Hospital on November 28, 1942, the daughter of three children to her loving parents the late Donald and Nancy (Rodriquez) Sweeney. Sandy was a lifelong resident of Oswego. She was pre-deceased by her two cherished brothers, Donald Sweeney. Jr., Peter Sweeney Sr. and his wife Angela, and special godchild and cousin Pamela Treuting. She is survived by her sister-laws Colleen Sweeney and Kathy Wahrendorf of Oswego, and brother-in-law John Paul (Sharon}White of Ontario, NY. She is also survived by her very close cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifetime colleagues she worked with.
Mutt Putt Golf Tournament
OSWEGO – The Oswego County Humane Society will hold their annual Mutt Putt Golf Tournament at Battle Island on Sunday, July 21, 2024. This traditional captain & crew style tournament will offer a variety of ways to win including a hole in one challenge. Once finished, golfers will head to the club house for Yappy Hour to socialize with friends featuring music, food, raffles, a silent auction and more. Teams are $400 and Yappy hour tickets are available for non-golfers for $25.00.

FULTON – June 14, 2024, Josephine Francesconi, 103; of Fulton, NY passed peacefully Friday, June 14th at St. Luke Health Services, Oswego. Mrs. Francesconi was born in Fulton to the late Rosario and Angeline (Patane) Fichera. She remained a lifetime resident of Fulton, NY. Mrs. Francesconi was past employed with Sealright Co., Fulton; DK Manufacturing, Fulton and the National Airline Defense Corp. She was a past communicant of Holy Family Church, Fulton. Josephine was a tireless volunteer for several years with Andrew Michaud Nursing Home, Fulton, A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Fulton and R.S.V.P., Oswego.
