OSWEGO – Stephen R. Poydock, 76, of Oswego, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Born in Warsaw, New York, he was the son of the late Robert T. and Doris (Stephens) Poydock. He grew up in Perry NY, where scouting and his faith were a big part of his life. In 1964, he met the love of his life, Linda, and they graduated together from Perry Central Schools in 1966. They were married on April 29, 1967, and moved to Oswego, NY soon after to start their life journey together.

Mark Farner’s American Band Highlights Weekend Of Great Music At Harborfest 2024
OSWEGO – Mark Farner’s American Band, led by the writer and singer of Grand Funk Railroad’s iconic hits, will headline a full weekend of great music at the 2024 edition of Harborfest in Oswego. Farner and his band perform Friday, July 26 at 9:15 p.m. on the Constellation Energy Lakeview Stage. The show, like all of Harborfest, is free of charge. The festival runs from Thursday, July 25 to Sunday, July 28.

FULTON – Thomas J. Loguidice, 78, of Fulton died at home while sleeping Saturday morning May 18, 2024. He was born in Fulton the son of the late Thomas Loguidice and Mary (Casemento) Zieno. Tom was a retired bus driver for Greyhound Bus Company of Syracuse. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1964 until 1968. Tom was a dedicated family man, and received his most joy when he was spending time with his wife, children and his grandchildren.
VanSanford, Frost Receive First Hamer Music Awards At Celebration Of Community Music
G. Ray Bodley seniors Douglas VanSanford and Braeden Frost received the first Mary A. and Ernest A. Hamer Music Awards at The Fulton Music Association’s (FMA) 23rd Annual Celebration of Community Music, Saturday, May 11, at the G. Ray Bodley High School (GRB) Auditorium, it was announced by Steve Chirello, FMA president. Each Hamer award was $1,000. In addition, FMA Senior awards of $500 each were presented to Dawson Krause and Ashley Taplin. Luigi Giacomucci, GRB band director, emceed the event, and Bradford Hamer and Debra Hamer Rogers, children of the Hamers, presented the Hamer awards. FULTON – May 13, 2024, Theresa M. Hoffman, 55; of Fulton, NY passed Monday, May 13th, 2024 at University Hospital after a short illness. She was born in Syracuse, NY to the late Richard and Mary Lou Winn and she has been a resident of Fulton, NY for 28+ years. Theresa was a good mom. She was also a talented crafter. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and diamond art.
Mabel S. Jagnow
WILLIAMSON, NY – May 15, 2024, Mabel S. Jagnow, formerly of Williamson, NY died May 15, 2024, at 102 years old. She was born in Williamson, NY; the daughter of the late Isaac and Sarah (Hendricks) Hoevenaar. During the World War II Era, Mabel worked as a Registered Nurse having graduated from the Genessee Hospital, Rochester, NY School of Nursing. She was past employed in both private duty nursing and in the public sector with a doctor’s private practice. Mabel was a devoted and loving wife to her husband of 69 years Bill Jagnow until his death in 2015. Together they lived and raised a family in a lovely little house in which Mabel was very particular and caring about the upkeep. Mrs. Jagnow took immense pride in caring for her family and showered them in love through her cooking, cleaning, gardening and sewing projects. Mabel had a “green thumb” which was evident in her flourishing flower and vegetable gardens which attracted all kinds of birds and were enjoyed by both friends and family. Mabels greatest endeavor was raising her daughter Judy and teaching her many valuable life skills. Her family and pet dogs always brought her great happiness. Through the years Mabel continued to live a simple and dignified life having also been a 2x cancer survivor.
H. Lee White Maritime Museum Offers Lighthouse Tours Today
OSWEGO – May 18th, 2024, The H. Lee White Maritime Museum offers early season lighthouse boat tours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, during the Lake Ontario Waterfront Festival on Saturday, May 18. The festival offers a variety of family fun, including free admission to the museum, a Sailboat Sprint, safety demonstrations and more. Fallen Service Members Honored in Fulton This Memorial Day Weekend
FULTON – The Fulton Veterans Council honors fallen service members with wreath-laying ceremonies at locations around Fulton on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27. The first ceremony begins at 9 a.m. in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 463 S. Seventh St., Fulton. The procession will then move on to Mount Adnah Cemetery at 706 E. Broadway, the Fulton War Memorial at 609 W. Broadway, and end at Veterans’ Park, 100-152 S. First St., across from Fulton City Hall.

OSWEGO COUNTY – The Mary Walker Mural Committee announces a call for artists to submit letters of interest to produce a 4’ x 10’ wooden mural of Dr. Mary Walker, Town of Oswego hero, Civil War surgeon and, to date, the only woman to receive the U.S. Congressional Medal of Honor.

OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Legislature’s Public Safety Committee presented two proclamations to members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office during the Legislature’s May meeting. The recognitions honored May 12-18 as National Police Week and May 5-11 as National Correctional Officers Week. National Police Week highlights the important role that law enforcement officers play in safeguarding the rights and freedoms of all citizens and honors officers for their essential public service. National Correctional Officers Week recognizes the men and women who work in the field of corrections and the important role they play within the criminal justice system.
