Joyce Scott Ferlito
FULTON – On July 18, 2024, Joyce Scott Ferlito, 89, was reunited with her husband Mike with whom she shared 59 loving years of marriage. She was proud of her Hannibal roots growing up within a small, close-knit community. Upon marriage she and Mike soon moved to Southwest Oswego where Mike joined the family farming business and Joyce began her career raising eight children. She had also been a bookkeeper for the family farm and Oswego Growers and Shippers. Joyce was an active member of the SW Oswego UMC/Journey of Faith Church where she held several administrative church positions and enjoyed time with the women’s church groups. In addition, she was a volunteer in the community, including the Oswego Welcome Center, Harborfest, 4-H Leader, and she was a major influence in the introduction of the Oswego Farmers Market. With eight children she could be found at many school sporting and music events. Joyce was known by all to be a kind and compassionate woman but was also known to be strong and independent. When she had the elusive moment to herself, she was an avid reader and puzzle book player.

The Imagination Library of Oswego County (ILOC) recently received a donation of $2,490 from the Town of New Haven, it was announced by Patrick Dewine, United Way of Greater Oswego County (UWGOC), executive director and co-director of the Imagination Library of Oswego County program. FULTON – Dawn A. Reynolds, 78, of Granby Center passed away peacefully at Upstate Hospital on Saturday July 13th, surrounded by her loved ones. Dawn retired from Michaud nursing home in Fulton where she worked for over 15 years. After Michaud, she continued working as a home health aide. Many people know her from Rosie’s Tavern in Granby where she bartended on and off for many years. Dawn was an amazing woman with a heart of gold. New Rides Add To The Excitement At Harborfest’s 2024 Midway Carnival; Discount Wristband Sale Ends Soon
OSWEGO – New rides will take Harborfest patrons high into the Oswego night sky and zip them in circles to a modern soundtrack. The Dreamland Amusements Midway Carnival will add four attractions to its exciting mix of rides, games and carnival treats. The Ferris wheel ride called “The Wheel” raises riders 110 feet above the ground while the “Music Express” spins riders back and forth at high speed amidst music and spectacular lights. Zero Gravity spins riders in a fast circle while The Sizzler spins them in circles within circles. FULTON – July 14, 2024, Lowell F. Shattuck, 85; of Fulton, NY passed peacefully at the University Hospital, Syracuse, NY. He was born in Potsdam, NY to the late Gerald and Lila (Holmes) Shattuck. Mr. Shattuck remained a lifetime resident of Fulton, NY. Mr. Shattuck worked at Morrel Press as a Printer and later retired from Sealright Co., after 25 years, where he worked as a Machine Operator and Supervisor. Lowell was a “jack of all trades and master of none,” and he loved to clean and have everything neat and tidy. He also enjoyed being outdoors and was always finding something to fix or do especially on the weekend when he would clean and shine his car inside and out. Lowell was recently pre-deceased by his wife Christina Shattuck.

NEW YORK – Selected Teams Will Partner with Leading Real Estate Companies to Advance Their Low Carbon Solutions for Heating Tall Buildings. Governor Kathy Hochul today announced seven finalists in the $10 million Empire Technology Prize, a competitive opportunity for global solution providers launched last October to advance building technologies for low carbon heating system retrofits in tall commercial and multifamily buildings in New York State. The Clean Fight, a climate tech accelerator, which administers the initiative on behalf of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), will now help match finalists with leading New York real estate portfolio owners interested in discussing pilot and demonstration opportunities for the proposed solutions in New York.
