FULTON – May 3, 2024, Harriet M. Comstock, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024, at her home in Fulton, NY. Harriet was born in Fulton in 1930, to Arthur and Nellie (Arnold) Grant. She graduated from Fulton High School and worked at GE, and also as a dental assistant and a pharmacy technician. She married Donald Comstock in 1952.
Phoenix student to Compete at National History Bee
Connor Smith, a 7th grader at EJD in Phoenix, recently competed in International Academic Competitions’ Regional History Bee. He was among a small group of students from all around the country to qualify for the National History Bee, which takes place in Orlando at the end of May. His favorite era of history to study is the Napoleonic era.
New Weekday Hours at Compass FCU’s Oswego Main Office Beginning June 1
OSWEGO – May 7, 2024, Compass Federal Credit Union’s main office at 131 George St. in Oswego will implement new weekday hours following June 1. Beginning on Monday, June 3 the George St. office will now be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., along with its current Saturday hours of 9 a.m. to Noon.
Oswego Hibernians donate to SAF
The Oswego Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) recently held a chicken BBQ fundraiser to raise money for Services to Aid Families (SAF). SAF serves people in crisis due to domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, and innocent victims of crime. They offer a plethora of community services including but not limited to counseling, preventative education, victim support, the SAF House, and a 24-hour crisis hotline (315)-342-1600.

Oswego City School District Inducts 2024 National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society Members
OSWEGO — Oswego City School District recently welcomed 37 new members into the National Honor Society and 26 new members into the National Junior Honor Society. Oswego High School NHS has donated hundreds of dollars from their treasury this year to local causes, and they held fundraisers and campaigns to benefit a variety of groups including The Human Concerns Center food pantry of Oswego, the Department of Social Services diaper drive, Blessings in a Backpack and to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through their No Shave November fundraiser, as well as a letter writing campaign for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital where to-date, Oswego High School has raised more than $55,000.

FULTON – May 4, 2024, Peter Truax Bock, 80, of Fulton passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Oswego Hospital. He was born April 26, 1944 in Syracuse to Edward Charles and Arlene Truax Bock and was a graduate of Fulton High School Class of 1962. While in high school, Peter was employed at his father’s sporting goods store, B & T Sports Shop before entering college. Peter earned his Associate’s degree from Auburn Community College, his Bachelor’s degree from the University at Buffalo and his Master’s degree in education from S.U.N.Y. Oswego. He was employed by the Oswego City School District where he taught business classes at Oswego High School, coached football and wrestling until his retirement after 29 years of total service in education on June 30, 1998. At the same time, he was working as an educator, he was employed by the Laborer’s Union Local #214 of Oswego. Peter and his wife Cathy were the owners of Bock’s Tool Shed for 21 years until they retired the business in 1999. Peter was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves and in his free time he enjoyed golfing, camping, boating on the river, making new friends along with woodworking.
