Please take NOTICE that a Special Meeting of the Fire and Police Commission of the City of Fulton, New York will take place on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 3:30 P.M. in the Mayor’s Conference Room. The purpose of the meeting is for Fire Personnel Discussion.
Marcia A. Loosen
FULTON – May 1, 2024, Marcia A. Loosen, 80; of Fulton, NY; passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family Wednesday, May 1st, 2024. Mrs. Loosen was born in Fulton, NY to the late Joseph P. and Catherine (Duda) Dickquist. She remained a lifetime resident of Fulton, NY. Mrs. Loosen retired from Fulton School District where she worked as a Lunch Lady. She was a lifetime member of the Fulton V.F.W. #569 Auxiliary, and she was a past communicant of St. Michael’s Church and currently Holy Trinity Parish, Fulton. Marcia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were truly her pride and joy.
OHS Students Explore Doppler On Wheels
OSWEGO – In the days leading up to the solar eclipse in Oswego, scientists and weather enthusiasts descended upon the port city to capture a glimpse of the phenomenon. Among those visitors were famous storm chasers Josh Wurman and Karen Kosiba, who rolled into town on the Doppler on Wheels, making a stop at Oswego High School for a meteorology lesson.
Robert “Bob” Joseph LeRoy
OSWEGO – Robert “Bob” Joseph LeRoy age 85 of Oswego, NY passed away at his home with his loving wife Joyce of 51 years by his side on April 27, 2024. Born in Fulton, NY in 1938, he was the oldest child of Ethel and Joseph LeRoy. He graduated from Fulton High School in 1957 and joined the Navy.
Dorothy Decatur Engell
FULTON – April 28, 2024, Dorothy Decatur Engell, 100, of Fulton, NY, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024. She was born in Cohoes, NY, the daughter of Fannie Mae and Frederick Decatur. Moved to Schenectady and spent her childhood there, graduating from Nott Terrace High School. She then attended secretarial training at GE. Dorothy worked in the Navy Department at the International GE building then at the main plant until her marriage to Theodore Engell in 1949. After which, they moved to Fulton, NY for his position at Armstrong World Industries.

Livestock Health and Animal Mortality
OSWEGO COUNTY – Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County (CCE Oswego County) is hosting a two-part agriculture workshop series focused on livestock-related concerns. The first part will focus on how best to maintain livestock health. The second part will address how best to manage on-farm animal mortalities when they occur. This two-part series is open to all livestock owners and beginning farmers, including cattle, small ruminants, swine, and poultry operations. MINETTO, NY – Minetto fifth graders recently wrapped up a unit on the Renaissance by hosting a Renaissance Fair with music, games and activities. The fair included 10 different stations where the fifth graders showcased a particular activity or game made popular during the Renaissance. Bruce L. Tonkin
FULTON – Bruce L. Tonkin, 62, of Fulton died Friday April 26, 2024 in the Oswego Hospital. Bruce was born in Oswego the son of the late Chester and Mildred (Smith) Tonkin. Bruce was an electrician and a member of the IBEW # 328, #43, and # 97. He worked as an electrician with Entergy Nuclear and retired from Excelon in 2020. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and going to the Oswego Speedway, Nascar racing and he was a member of the Elks Lodge # 830, in Fulton. Bruce’s greatest passion was betting and traveling to casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
