Gillibrand Applauds Epa For Finalizing First-Ever National Standard For Pfas In Drinking Water, As Called For In Her Protect Drinking Water From Pfas Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is applauding the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for finalizing the first-ever national drinking water standard for per- and polyfluoralkyl substances (PFAS), which represents a major step forward in the fight to combat PFAS pollution. The final rule establishes legally enforceable limits, called maximum contaminant levels (MCLs), for PFAS in drinking water. The MCLs published today reflect those called for in Senator Gillibrand’s Protect Drinking Water from PFAS Act, which would have required EPA to establish a national standard for PFAS in drinking water, as well as MCLs for certain PFAS chemicals.

Port Of Oswego Breaks Ground On $4 Million West Terminal Pier Repairs, Improvements
The Port of Oswego Authority,(POA), has awarded W.D. Malone Trucking and Excavating, Hannibal, a nearly $4 million contract to repair and improve its West Terminal Pier, said William Scriber, POA executive director and CEO. A ceremony marking the start of this project was held today at the site. Funding for the project comes from NY State, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the POA.
Town of Hannibal Plans Earth Day Cleanup
HANNIBAL, NY – Town of Hannibal will be hosting its annual Earth Day cleanup event on April 20th from 9am- 12pm. Volunteers will be picking up roadside garbage in the town. Town of Hannibal Highway Superintendent Jake Malcott will be providing a truck for garbage collection that will be parked at the Hannibal Municipal Building. “We are asking that members of the Hannibal community come out and dedicate a few hours of their time to help clean up our roadsides” said Floyd Calkins, Hannibal Town Supervisor. “This our 7th year doing the cleanup, and it’s become a big success” Calkins stated.

FULTON – David H. Hawthorne, 61, of Fulton passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital after complications of heart failure while awaiting transplant. David was a member of the NYS Bar Association for 36 years and was the elected full time judge for the City of Fulton for 11 years. Prior to that he was in private law practice serving Fulton and Oswego County and worked for the City of Fulton as their part time counsel. David was also the attorney for the Fulton Housing Authority. David was a proud graduate of the Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA, SUNY Oswego, and Syracuse University Law School. As an attorney, he served on the NYS Bar Association Committee of Professional Ethics. He is a past member of the Board of Directors for the Central New York Regional Transportation Authority.
