FULTON – March 17, 2024, Jean F. Leogrande, 83; of Fulton, NY passed at Upstate Hospital, Syracuse, NY after a brief illness. She was born in Utica, NY to the late Richard and Emma Pealo. She has been a longtime resident of Fulton, NY. Mrs. Leogrande enjoyed art and loved to paint. She was a nature and animal lover. Jean enjoyed being outdoors, driving her Morgan horses, being a part of nature and loving and cuddling her cats.

Chief Curtis Swearing In Ceremony for Three New Fulton Police Officers
FULTON – The Fulton Police Department held a swearing in ceremony today, for its three newest police recruits. Administering the oath was Surrogate’s Court Judge Hon. Spencer Ludington followed by the official signing in with Fulton City Clerk Jodi Corsoniti. Mayor Rice, Council members Jeff Cobb and Audrey Avery along with Fire and Police Commissioner Dave Miner attended the ceremony on behalf of the City of Fulton. Family and friends of each recruit also attended. The three new recruits are:
Beulah J. Rogers Hanshew
FULTON – March 26, 2024, Beulah J. Rogers Hanshew, 95; went home to be with her Lord and Savior; Tuesday, March 26th, 2024, while home surrounded by her family. She was born in McRoberts, Kentucky to the late Dewey and Gerushia (Saylers) Rogers. Mrs. Hanshew remained a resident of Fulton, NY for most of her life. She retired in 1988 after working for 28 years as a Leader with General Electric. Mrs. Hanshew enjoyed gardening and beautifying her property. She also loved to dance, have a hot cup of coffee accompanied by a favorite sweet or piece of candy but her favorite vocation was being able to care for her husband and spending time with all of her family.
High Speed Pursuits in Oswego County
OSWEGO COUNTY – On Monday, March 25th, the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office engaged in a high-speed pursuit with a 2014 Dodge Charger. The pursuit began in Volney, north of Fulton. During the pursuit, the driver of the vehicle, Michael Mahalick, traveled at speeds as high as 120 miles per hour and traveled in the wrong lane towards oncoming traffic. The pursuit began at around 1:22 PM and ended in Syracuse at around 1:54 PM.
Eclipses & Navigation Lecture Followed by Stargazing Session at Maritime Museum
OSWEGO – The H. Lee White Maritime Museum at Oswego is pleased to present “Eclipses and Navigation” by SUNY Oswego Professor Natalia Lewandowska as part of the museum’s History Lecture Series on Wednesday, April 24th at 6:00pm. Dr. Lewandowska will present on this timely topic exploring the role eclipses have played in navigation through history. The talk will be followed by a stargazing session enabling participants to view the night skies through varied astronomical equipment.
OMS Student Council Raises Money For St. Baldrick’s
OSWEGO – On Friday, March 15, the Oswego Middle School Student Council hosted a Faculty Scooter Basketball Game, with all proceeds going to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which raises funds for life-saving childhood cancer eresearch. This week, members of the Student Council presented Dan Witmer, local event organizer, with a check for $1,886.37.

FULTON – March 27, 2024 — Yard waste and leaf pickup in the City of Fulton is set to begin the first week of April this year and will continue through December 1. The west side of the river will be picked up on the first and third week of each month and the east side will be picked up on the second and fourth week of each month.
Women’s Club of Fulton to Offer Annual Scholarship to Graduating Senior
FULTON – The Women’s Club of Fulton will be awarding a scholarship of $800 a year for up to two years to a qualified graduating senior, male or female, within the Fulton City School District who is planning to enter a course of two years or less in an associate degree program, a technical vocation or a business program.

OSWEGO – March 26, 2024, The Manor at Seneca Hill makes starting a career in healthcare easy with on-the-job training and a paid certification program.
