Fulton Porchfest is Back for 2024
FULTON – Porchfest is back for it’s fourth year on Sunday, July 14th starting at noon. 31 bands from all over Central New York will play on the porches of local homes in the Voorhees Park neighborhood. Three local businesses are also hosting bands this year, 114 Reserve, Hair We Are, and CNY Arts.

FULTON – June 29, 2024, Gail A. Gugula, 72; of Fulton, NY passed away at home peacefully after enduring a long illness. Gail was born in Fulton, NY to the late Gilbert and Marjorie (Stratton) Coles. She remained a lifetime resident of Fulton. Mrs. Gugula retired from Oswego County Boces, Mexico where she worked for 26 years as a Teacher’s Assistant. She enjoyed playing BINGO and travelling to the casino for a little gambling. Gail was a past member of the Board of Directors, volunteer and the first elected Female President of the Fulton Polish Home. She was pre-deceased by her brother Gary Coles.

Harborfest To Get Even Closer To The Water, Moving A Stage To The New Cahill Pier
OSWEGO – Harborfest 2024 will make use of the new Cahill Pier at Wright’s Landing Marina, moving a key music stage to the new park. Music that took place at Veterans Memorial Park will now take place at Cahill Pier. The move takes full advantage of a beautiful new venue which is adjacent to the festival’s main programming area at Breitbeck Park and to the Midway at Wright’s Landing. The festival runs from Thursday, July 25 to Sunday, July 28. All of the festival’s programming is free of charge.

OSWEGO – After the nonprofit’s annual board meeting held on June 24, 2024, the Oswego Health Board of Directors unanimously voted on leadership changes. A progressive leader at SUNY Oswego, Victoria L. Furlong will serve as Board Chair, lifelong Oswego native and Exelon retiree, Pete Cullinan will serve as Vice-Chair, and long-time, experienced banker, Ron Tascarella has been appointed as Board Secretary. OSWEGO – Joseph P. Ferlito, 71, of Oswego passed away on Saturday June 29, 2024 at his home peacefully after a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born in Oswego, the son of the late Angelo and Patricia (Parker) Ferlito. He began his career working at the family farm A. Ferlito Farms, but being an entrepreneur at heart, he started his own JP Ferlito Farms, Main Street Market and other various business ventures throughout the years. Oswego Health Appoints Wajeeh Sana, MD, FAAFP as New Chief Medical Officer
OSWEGO – Oswego Health is proud to announce the recent appointment of Wajeeh Sana, MD, FAAFP as Chief Medical Officer for the nonprofit healthcare system. With over seventeen years of experience as an emergency physician, Wajeeh Sana, MD, FAAFP has been a member of the Medical Staff at Oswego Hospital since 2013. In 2023 he was appointed President of the Medical Staff. He’s held various leadership positions throughout his career in CNY including Service Medical Director for McFee Ambulance and Clinical Assistant Professor at SUNY Upstate Medical Center. In 2015 he became Medical Director and Chairman of the Oswego Hospital Emergency Department, Fulton and Central Square Urgent Care Centers.
Mexico Point Park Annual Concert and Fireworks
MEXICO, NY – This year the Annual Concert and Fireworks event at Mexico Point State Park will be Sunday, July 14th beginning at 4:00 pm. The musical line up is as follows: 4:00 pm Mexico Middle School Jazz Band; 5:00 pm, CNY Alphorn Ensemble; 6:00 pm, Classic Touch Barbershop Quartet; 7:00 pm, Mexico Brass Band; 8:00 pm, McConnell, Caruso, and Carpentier. The musical acts will perform in the Pavilion, except for the CNY Alphorn Ensemble, who will perform on the lawn in front of Casey’s Cottage. Food will be available from Food Trucks from Garafolos, Barlows, and Twisted Treats and Treasures from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm. After the music, at approximately 9:30, Fireworks will be provided by Young Explosives. People are welcome to bring their own chairs and blankets from which to enjoy the fireworks.

The Oswego drum corps alumni reunion is set for Saturday August 24th at the Oswego elks Lodge from 1 to 5 pm. It is open to any Oswego drum corps alumni and some special guests. FULTON – June 28, 2024, Gilda Spagnola, 93, of Fulton, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, June 28, 2024 at St. Luke Residential Health Services in Oswego. Gilda was born August 27, 1930 in Jersey City, New Jersey, the youngest of 12 children to Joseph and Felice Scerbo. She had been employed as a bookkeeper at the Easy Bargain Center in Fulton for 20 years and as a bank teller for 11 years at Key Bank. In her younger years, Gilda enjoyed dancing and roller skating. More recently she enjoyed playing BINGO and participating in activities with her fellow residents at Towpath Towers.
