FULTON – The Fulton Noon Rotary recently listened to a presentation from Oswego Homeschool Association (OHA). The OHA is a non-profit group for homeschooling parents and children of all ages (Preschool to high school). OHA aims to support the role of the parent by offering meetings, special events, field trips, and educational opportunities. They are an inclusive, locally run organization that honors the diversity of homeschoolers.

OSWEGO COUNTY – The Palermo United Methodist Church annual Mother/Daughter Community Supper will be Friday evening, May 10, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. in the lower level of the church. We are wheelchair accessible. Anyone in the community is invited to bring your mom, your daughter, sister, aunt, neighbor, or a friend or loved one or come alone and find a friend to enjoy an evening of fun and fellowship. Fulton Lions Donate $1,000 To Stone Soup Too Luncheon
FULTON, NY – The Fulton Lions Club recently made a $1,000 donation to the Stone Soup Too Luncheon to raise money and food donations for Oswego County food pantries. The event, organized by the United Way of Greater Oswego County, will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., April 30, at Holy Trinity Parish, 309 Buffalo St. The United Way is accepting donations of $5 per person at the event and non-perishable food items. Guests will enjoy a light lunch sampling of soups, salad and desserts donated by local restaurants and businesses. On-hand for the check presentation were, from left Helen Hoefer, United Way board; Steve Chirello, Fulton Lions Club; Brandi Weaver, United Way resource development director; and Theresa Maniccia, United Way.

OSWEGO – April 16, 2024, Anthony A. Gentile Sr., 82; of Oswego, NY; passed Tuesday, April 16th, 2024, at University Hospital, Syracuse, NY after a short illness. Mr. Gentile was born in Oswego, NY to the late August and Pearle (Kiernan) Gentile. He has remained a lifetime resident of Oswego, NY. Mr. Gentile was a United States Veteran having served in the Army. He was past employed with SUNY Oswego as the Food Director with Food Services prior to working with the City of Oswego Water Treatment Plant. Mr. Gentile retired from the City of Oswego after 30 years of service. He was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing and being a proud veteran, he also liked War Memorabilia.

OSWEGO – On Sunday April 14, 2024, The Oswego Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to a report of a body in the Oswego River north of the Bridge Street bridge. At that time multiple marine and air units were dispatched to the scene to investigate. No body was found in the area and no missing person complaints had been filed. Subsequent searches of the river, Oswego harbor and Lake Ontario shoreline have continued utilizing marine side scan sonar and drones.

PHOENIX, NY – Richard “Rit” Gerald Dix, 81, of Phoenix, New York, died peacefully on Wednesday April 10, 2024 after receiving comfort are at Van Duyne Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, in the town of Onondaga. Richard retired after 30 years with General Electric that included a short assignment in the state of Alaska, of which he was very proud. He also was proud to have served as a 7 year reservist for the United States Marine Corps., and achieved active duty for a short stint during that time.
